The Intellectual Property

The existing intellectual property consists of the designs for the probe and handpiece, including the method of manufacture and the specifications for the applications, namely,

    (1) a probe using electrical stimulus-response to provide feedback to the user which signals that optimal contact has been made between the
          probe and the cervix, including the cervical canal;

    (2) a mapping system which records tissue type and true spatial location on the cervix;

    (3) a diagnostic device using the probe to identify cervical tissue type by means of electrical stimulus-response.

Patent pending applies to all these functions.

The designs in the bioprobe project address not only the goal of full cervical diagnosis but also include several additional applications. These auxiliary applications add considerable value to the project and FDA approval for marketing them should be easier to obtain than for the basic bioprobe.
